2019 Cherry Blossom Season

It has been a hectic time for The Journey to the East team over the past few months! It is now May and the iconic cherry blossom season across Japan is drawing to a close for 2019. Our specialised Small Group Tours during the cherry blossom season commenced in late February. The Early Spring Walking Tour of Japan includes the early-blossoming Kawazu Cherry Blossom variety. During March, our popular Cherry Blossom and Food Tour concentrated exclusively on the Kyushu region of Japan. Late March and April saw a number of tours covering the main island of Honshu. Our clients enjoyed admiring cherry blossoms in places like Matsumoto, Takayama, and Kanazawa. We also saw cherry blossoms in the ever popular cities of Kyoto and Tokyo. In late April we followed the “blossom front” north into the beautiful Tohoku region. The Cherry Blossom Tour of Northern Japan concluded in the month of May in Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Client Photos and Feedback

Thank you to all of our clients who travelled with us for the 2019 Cherry Blossom Season. We loved your amazing feedback. Our team especially enjoyed some of the photos and moments that you were kind enough to share with us. All of the photos on this page were taken by our clients in 2019. These photos provide a great "real world" idea of what to expect on our incredible Cherry Blossom Tours.

In 2019 the cherry blossoms bloomed approximately five days earlier than the average. Timing for each year can vary by up to around one week or sometimes slightly longer. This depends on the weather as it transitions from Winter to Spring. Thanks to our amazing staff, small groups, and experienced local guides we are nimble enough to make any adjustments. Daily plans can change if the cherry blossoms are better in one part of the city or surrounds than another. This ensures our clients get the most from their travel experience. This is one of the many advantages of travelling with Journey to the East, a specialist in Japan.

2020 Cherry Blossom Plans

Are you planning a trip to Japan to experience the cherry blossoms in 2020? We still have some places currently available on a selection of our Small Group Tours. Please feel free to browse our Cherry Blossom Tours of Japan page to select the tour for you. Despite a common belief that you have to be in Japan between late March and early April, the cherry blossoms can be enjoyed over a much longer time frame. You just need to know where to go and when! Journey to the East's Cherry Blossom Tours are run from late February until early May. Each tour has a different itinerary specifically designed to be at the right place at the right time. This helps to maximise your cherry blossom experience.

Of course, spring is a popular time for visiting Japan so planning and booking in advance is essential!
