Had a fabulous time with a great group of people. I loved the country, the culture, the people and everything about the tour – hope to do another tour with JTTE – maybe Hokkaido or Kyushu next time

This was my first trip with JTTE and already I am looking at the program for next year thinking about another one. I liked the fact that it was a small group, the organisation was spot on and the food everywhere was outstanding.

Where Are Japan’s Best Gardens and Art?
Japan has an extraordinary number of excellent gardens of different styles. Many gardens are very old and part of the old feudal era, some are even in the middle of giant cities such as Tokyo. The top selection includes Kenrokuen in the western city of Kanazawa; The Adachi Art Museum (taking out Japan’s number one garden around a dozen times); Korakuen garden in Okayama is another favourite. Kyoto does not miss out either with gardens like Kokedera (the moss temple’s gardens) and of course Ryoanji, the most famous ‘Stone’ garden is there too.
Art is such a personal thing and Japan offers something for almost everyone. Pick a small handful of all the galleries and it may well include the Ohara Museum of Fine Art (exhibiting a superb collection of Japanese and European fine art); The Island of Naoshima (offering a fascinating take on contemporary art); The building alone at the Miho Museum is worth seeing, to say nothing of the world famous art. In Kanazawa, you just can’t afford to miss 21st Century Contemporary Museum of Art. Then of course, there is the Open Air Museum in Hakone (offering some fascinating art and views to go with it).
