Kyoto

Kyoto was Japan's capital city from 794 until 1868. Now a modern city it balances this with a huge range of amazing temples, shrines, and gardens throughout. The city allows you to experience the historical and cultural side of Japan with a wide variety of experiences across the city.

There are a number of boutique western style hotels including Cross Hotel Kyoto, Royal Park Hotel Sanjo and Royal Park Hotel Shijo. Kyoto also has a wide variety of traditional ryokan.

 

Location

Tokyo - it is approximately two and a half hours from Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen (Bullet Train)

Osaka - It is approximately 15-30 minutes from Osaka.

Hiroshima - it is approximately two hours from Kyoto to Hiroshima by Shinkansen. Depending on departure time sometimes a transfer is required at Shin-Osaka or Shin-Kobe on the way.

 

Events

The timing of the cherry blossoms can vary from year to year but the cherry blossoms in Kyoto are usually at their peak in early April. The autumn colours are usually at their peak in mid to late November.
